Studies in Slovak Language and Culture
Slovak is an Indo-European language and belongs to the group of West Slavic languages, together with Czech, Polish and Sorbian. The Slovak language has been taught in Finland since 1978.
Students of Slovak may participate in the annual summer school of Slovak language and culture Studia Academica Slovaca organized by the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The University of Jyväskylä is the only academic institution in the Nordic countries with such a long history of offering Slovak studies.
